The first-years are now working on a map project, where each person has to create a 12” by 12” map of an assigned square area near campus. Today there was a heated discussion on preserving the individual characteristics of each square while creating a cohesive map as a whole. This is our first collaborative project!
Pictured are students pinning up their map iterations.
The first-year designers are now working on their second design project of the year: building grocery carriers to prevent vulnerable foods from damage during transportation. The carriers have to be built entirely of cardboard, without tape or glue or any other materials for attachment. We are all busy sketching and testing prototypes as well as learning to use cardboard and various types of knives.
Pictured are several first-years working on this project.
